Time to Unwind

The one thing I like to do after work every day is unwind in front of the TV for an hour. I usually do this and then make supper and get on with my evening. This works really well for me and I was more than a little put out when my TV stopped working a few weeks ago.

I decided that if I was going to have to replace it than I wanted to get a plasma TV. I started looking around town for cheap plasma TVs, but I could not find anything that I could afford. When I had almost given up and decided to go with something cheaper than a plasma, a friend suggested that I look online.

She told me that she did discount online shopping all the time and she got particularly great deals on electronics. I looked and found a great TV at a price I could afford. It is so nice to have my unwind time back. Maybe it was a good thing that my old set quit because I am really enjoying the new one.

Considering Plastic Surgery

I have never really been very fond of my nose, and I thought that it was about time that I did something about it.  I just recently inherited some money, and I thought that I could put it to good use by fixing my face.

But I didn’t know anyone that had ever had any type of plastic surgery procedure done, and I had no idea what to expect.  I guess for me, I am the type of person that needs some proof before I try something, and that is just what I needed in this case.

So, looking online, I was able to find some before and after photos surgery that would help me feel a little more at ease with my decision.  I just wanted to make sure that I found a place that did good work as I didn’t want my nose to look worse after I had it done.

But, I have found a couple of places that look like they do good work.  I have made appointments at both of them to get an idea of what they can do for me.  After I have seen what they think, I will make the decision of whether or not I should get cosmetic surgery.

Looking for Singles Online

My brother has never really ever had good luck with women.  Though there is nothing really wrong with him, he has always dated needy girls that are just a bit too immature.  Instead of giving up though, he decided that he would try his luck at finding local singles online.

He didn’t really know where to start, but he signed up at many of the free online dating sites out there in hopes that by having his eggs in many baskets that he would find the one.  It took him some time to fill out his profile on each site, and he used different pictures of himself on each of the sites.

"Lucky" for him, he found a couple of weirdos at the first few sites he signed up for.  Not to be discouraged, he patiently waited until he found a woman that was going to be a good life partner.

After a couple of months, he finally hit gold and started to date one of those women and things were going really well for him.  They are now engaged, and will be married later on this year.  I am so happy for them.

We are all Poisoned

Don’t freak out or anything, but truthfully we are all poisoned.  It comes from the fact that we all live in a polluted environment, and therefore we have toxins in our bodies.  Not only does this affect our health, but can cause short term problems (such as lack of energy, poor memory) to longer term conditions (such as cancer and other diseases).

But what can we do?

Well, there are many ways to go about ridding your body of these poisons.  There are many detoxification treatments available on the market and most of them take time to complete.  With our busy lifestyles, most of us don’t have the time to commit to something like that, so for the rest of us, we need something as painless as possible.

Do you have time for a couple of drops?

Yes, you read that right.  What I would suggest is trying liquid Zeolite, and all you have to do is put a couple of drops into a drink - the Zeolite does the rest.  I would have to say, it is the easiest way to get rid of toxins, so why don’t you give it a try?  Your body will thank you.

An Unconventional Baby Gift

When I found out that my baby sister was expecting, I was overjoyed. I knew that she would make a great mother and I was flattered that she thought enough of me to ask for advice on the pregnancy. She was young and she was scared and I think the whole experience brought us a lot closer together.

I wanted to give her a baby shower, as I knew that there were several things that her and her husband would not be able to afford for the baby. That being said, I knew this baby would never lack for love as they both had so much to offer.

I wanted to find her the best baby gift and I started thinking back to when I had my first baby. I tried to remember what the one thing was that I could not have survived without. The decision that I came to was, maybe not the most conventional one, but I got her a spa membership, good for a pedicure, a facial and a massage once a month for a year. I felt the best thing I could give her was the chance to relax and forget her responsibilities, even for just a couple of hours.

Bought some Good Books Today

Today, we had the opportunity to go to some yard sales.  It is something that we try to do every week during the summer, as there is definitely a thrill in looking for a good deal.  We have bought many things over the years, and we are hoping to find some good deals this year as well.

There really wasn’t many good items on sale today - most of it was junk.  We went to many different houses, but out of all the ones that we we did visit, there was only one that had anything of value.

There we found some books that looked interesting .  There was Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, and Stock Split Secrets by Darlene Nelson.  These were two books that I have been looking for a long time, and it was nice to get a good discount on them.

Hopefully, the rest of the yard sales this summer will be more fruitful - I would hate to think that there will only be junk on sale this summer.

Preparing for Work on Monday

Though I usually take the weekend off, sometimes I take the time on Sunday to get ready for the work week on Monday.  It may sound a little strange, but I am looking forward to be considered for a promotion, so I figure that I have to bring my "A" game to the table everyday.

So, lately on Sundays, I have taken the time to get ready for Monday and the week ahead.  For example, right now we are working on a web design project for a client, and we are meeting with the professional logo design service that we have contracted to do that portion of the site.

I am just finishing up the preliminary concepts for the logo design, so that they have some framework from which to work with to come up with the final design.  I still have a little bit of touching up to do before I will be ready tomorrow.

Hopefully this will be the week that they promote me - I am getting tired of giving up my weekends for my job instead of spending time with the family - I really need the promotion.

Getting out of a Rut

I would have to say that from a financial perspective, most of my adult life has been great.  I have had a good career, bought a nice home, and even socked away some money for my retirement.  In fact, everything was going to plan until I became sick.

At that point things changed.  Our savings quickly dried up and we started to use the credit available to us to keep us afloat.  But as we all know, living on credit eventually can become a problem, and that is exactly what happened to us.

By the time I was better, our debt load was too much to handle.  We just about file for bankruptcy, but someone suggested to us that we should look into debt consolidation loans and see if that would help.

We applied and were approved, and we were able to keep up with the loan payments.  We still have about a year left before we are free and clear, but thankfully, we didn’t have to go bankrupt.  I will feel much better once we are out of the rut we dug for ourselves.

What’s In A Bed?

I remember the funniest gift my daughter ever asked for at Christmas time. We had been wandering through a department store and we came across a big display of dog beds. She was thrilled with them and she said she absolutely had to have one from Santa. I tried to get her four year old mind to understand that they were for dogs, but she did not want to hear it.

We went to see Santa later on that week and she still insisted that was what she wanted for Christmas. I was still not sure what she was going to do with it, but I decided to humor her anyway. I was laughing to myself as I took the dog bed through the checkout.

When she got up on Christmas morning and found the bed under the tree, she was more than thrilled. She took her new book and her new Barbie doll and went and curled up in the bed. The funniest thing about it, is that she has been using it for three years now and she still loves it.

Finding New Investments

I have always been a fan of making my money work as hard as possible.  It serves no purpose for me just sitting in my bank account, so I try to keep it out of there as much as possible.

I have been talking with some of my business partners, looking for suggestions as to what I should do.  They came up with many recommendations, but in the end I decided to go with something that I could understand: rental property.

In the past, when I was younger, I rented a number of apartments before I was able to buy a house.  It gave me a good understanding of some of the living conditions that people face on a daily basis, and I would like to be in the position that I can offer someone affordable and quality housing.

So, I have been looking online each day to see if I can find a property that would meet that criteria.  So far, nothing has come up, but when it does, I will be ready to invest.
