Looking for an Exotic Destination

Instead of going on one of those run-of-the-mill vacations, I thought it was time to took a trip that was a little bit different.  Leaving the country is definitely in order, but the destination was unknown.

In order to make up my mind, I decided that I would go look online to see what other people suggested as a good vacation destination.  I figured that someone else had been in my situation but was able to find that one special place that ended up being the perfect exotic destination.

As it turned out, and up reading a lot of blogs, forum posts, as well as reviews of the many different destinations that people thought would be a good vacation spot.  From all these reviews I read, I decided to pick the one that was the most popular, which turned out to be the Seminyak Bali villas, a trendy resort on the island of Bali.

So the destination of my next trip has been decided and I look forward to experiencing Bali and all its wonders.

Happily Married

My husband and I have been blissfully married since last summer and my wedding day has so far been the best day of my life.  Although, all the months following the wedding have been wonderful as well.  I never thought that I could be in this kind of happy relationship as I never really knew what true love was before and that this man.

From the day we were married my husband and I started a journal that we call our relationship book.  In this book we can I love notes to each other and we can even let the other know that we are upset or angry with them without getting too many emotions involved.

Every night, before we go to bed, we take out the relationship book and see if there are any new notes.  We know so many people who are in unhappy relationships that we thought by doing this it would give us a chance to talk to each other every night and hash things out if there was a problem so that we would never go to bed angry with each other.

Paper or Plastic? Wood or Vinyl?

When I shop at the supermarket and the bagger asks me, “Paper or plastic?” I pause and tap my chin. “Let’s see,” I say. “Shall I kill a tree today or pollute the environment?” Clearly the teenagers who bag my groceries miss the irony entirely. The girls just giggle and look confused. The boys just appear clueless.

Such debates don’t end here. When it came time for installing replacement windows in our house before the divorce sale, we threw the question “Wood windows or vinyl windows?” back and forth for about a week. We opted, in the end, for vinyl replacement windows, since we wouldn’t be living there and they were a popular home improvement recommendation at local home improvement stores and in realtor newsletters we were inundated with when we started shopping around for the best real estate company.

Still, I have to agree with Kermit. “It’s not easy being green.”

Traditional or Not?

Engagement rings really can be any kind of ring, but traditionally they are solitaire style which is just one stone on a center setting of some kind. When it comes to solitaire rings, diamonds are more often than not, the choice of stone but could be of any type of stone you want.

Honestly, the ring has more to do with your own personal preferences than tradition. If you want a blue stone then choose a sapphire or blue topaz or aquamarine. Red stones are even becoming more popular and those could be ruby or garnet, one being a more pink and the other a deeper darker blood red. These red and blue stones look quite sharp next to a diamond.

Some couples are opting for a triple stone ring that can stand for past, present and future.
No matter what you decide on, it should be thought that counts and not what anyone else but the wearer wants.

If You Want Something Done Right, Do it Yourself

The church that I attend asked me if I would not mind helping them get a web page together. They figured it was a good way to advertise different activities and events that were going on in the life of the church. I said that I would help, not realizing at all what I was getting myself into.

When we met for the first time, I realized how little the people working on it actually knew. They had no idea about hosting and I suggested that they get an account with asp.net web hosting before we move on to anything else. After all, what good is a web page without hosting?

Once we got that done, we started to work on the layout and design of the page. It started to be one headache after another working with people who do not know what they are doing. I eventually said that I would take care of the web page myself and they agreed that this was the best thing to do. It is finally online and I am finally sane again.

One Lucky Guy

I was injured recently in a workplace accident. I fell from a two story scaffolding and broke my leg in three places. I am lucky that is all that I did and I consider myself very fortunate. I was booked in for foot and ankle surgery in Orange County, where they had to set my bones and put some pins in my leg. It was amazing how quickly they did it and what a good job they did on my leg and foot.

It will still be several weeks before I can have the cast removed, but I can already tell that I am healing well. I am actually starting to be able to put some weight on my leg and I can walk on it for short times. I am fully expecting to make a full recovery and I will be extremely glad when I can go back to work. I think that the worst part of the whole thing is that I am bored as I am an extremely active person and I do not like sitting in one place for too long.

TapouT Clothing Line

If you have ever seen a mixed martial arts fight, you have probably seen the Tapout logo somewhere in the ring, on the fighters or in the crowd.

Tapout brand has been around since the beginning of MMA and has sponsored some of the best MMA fighters ever. They are also responsible for helping a reality TV show about MMA.

Tapout clothing is also a growing brand that is getting more and more mainstream thanks to their event and show sponsorships.

You can see the line on everyone from fighters to female fans of the sport. They make shirts, shorts, backpacks and belts just to name a few.

They have kept on the cutting edge of the design world for fighter clothing too, rather than becoming stale and stuck in their original design ideas, they have rolled with the changes and produce one of the top lines of clothing made for and inspired by mixed martial arts fighting.

Bad Water Filtration Systems

We have been doing some research into water filtration systems for our new home and while I’m not yet certain what we will be getting, I am fairly sure that I don’t want to buy a GE made water softener unit.

I came across a forum where many consumers have had these units in their homes and after just a year or two have had many issues with them working properly and they have consequently had to spend tons of money on service calls and replacement parts for their units which have gone bad again in just another few years if even that long. They report that valves are sticking and have to be hand manipulated and lubricated which can be done by the owner, but I don’t want to have to fix something that should be working anyway! Especially when some of these systems cost over a thousand dollars.

Surely there is a company or brand who makes a reliable product that will last longer than a year or two for as much as these units cost?

Aunt Martha

Aunt Martha was the greatest person I have ever known. She was actually my great aunt; the sister of my grandmother. She had never married and had children of her own and so she had devoted her whole life to her nieces and nephews. She was always the favorite of all of them.

When mom had me, she was single and had little money. She was going to give me up for adoption in order to give me a better life, but Aunt Martha talked her out of it, convincing mom to move in with her so that she could help out with me. She became like my second mother and we were always very close.

When she passed away, I was devastated. I did not know what I would do without her. We found out that she had left child trust funds for both me and my brother, stating that she wanted us to buy a house and go to college. It was so like her to do something like that and that is why I miss her so much. She found a way to encourage us to reach our full potential even after she had passed away.

Building My Empire

I am the type of person who refuses to work at a job that I do not enjoy. If it is not fun, than it is not worth me wasting my time and I will quickly move on to something else. I knew very early in life that I was not going to be happy working for other people and so would have to run my own business.

I looked into the best business opportunities available at the time. I found something that suited me just fine. I had a lot of fun working there and when it started to not be fun anymore, I hired someone to manage it and decided to start another business.

This is pretty much how it went for the next ten years. I would get bored and move on to something new. By the time I was twenty-nine years old, I owned thirteen businesses and now I do not have to work at all. I have capable people running them all and I am ready to retire.
