Watching Street Performers

While traveling last summer, we had the opportunity to attend a festival in the city that we were visiting.  It was a cultural event of street performers and many different shows.

During the week that we were there, we were able to watch comedians, magicians, fire jugglers and stiltwalkers.  I had to explain to my child that the people on stilts were not giants.

Throughout the week, there were many shows that we went together as a family, and there were a few that we left our kids at my sister’s house.  Some of the material was just not appropriate for them, and we were sure to ensure that we only took them to shows that were appropriate to their age.  They loved each one that we took them to and the smiles that they had were worth every penny.

It was definitely an entertaining trip as we have never seen some of the sites that we saw on that trip.

Going Over Training Materials

I have been going over the training materials that we have received for use in our tutoring center.  Our center covers many different levels of education, and we help students excel at school.  This is a service that I have setup many years ago, and it has been a very good business venture for us.

Each year at about this time, we order our GCSE coursework training materials for the fall.  It gives us the time to get familiarized with any changes in the curriculum and practice those subjects that we need to catch up on.  Sure, most things don’t change, but many subjects such as science have subtle changes each year.

We have also ordered A Level Coursework as we are going to start to offer that as a part of our coursework training program for students.  It will be nice to do something different for a change instead of just teaching the same thing each year.

Hands Free

I got the coolest software for my computer. It allows me to dictate through a headset rather than typing. I absolutely love it because it allows me to hold my baby and work on a term paper at the same time. It is so time efficient that I really don’t know what I did without it.

Every day now, when I come home from school, I hold my daughter while working on my book reports. The headset gives me two free hands and I know that I will always have time to go back and edit after my little baby goes to bed.

It looks kind of humorous because I put the laptop down on the floor in front of me and I have my research papers strewn all around it, so I can find the notes I need and dictate them to the machine. It may look weird, but it works and I find that I have far more time with my daughter than I ever have before.

Finding a New Research Tool

I have been spending a lot of time looking for information on diabetes. It runs in my family and when I had to study a disease in one of my college classes, this is the one I chose to research. I thought it would be good to know as much about it as I could since it affects so many people in my family and my chances of having it one day are pretty high.

I logged on to a health forum on the topic and I found it to be a very useful tool for doing research. There were questions on there that I would have never thought to ask or even thought to find information on.

I think the forum helped me to do more in-depth research and in turn helped me to write a much better paper than I would have without it. I will never again count out forums when I am doing research for a class. It has proven to be one of the most useful tools that I have ever come across.

Looking for a Legitimate Degree Program Online

I can remember about a year ago when I was reading in the paper about the companies online that would sell you a fake degree for around $100.  They were talking about the dire consequences of people that have fake degrees getting into life critical jobs under the fraudulent application process.

So when it was time for me to go back to school, I knew I had to make sure that I was studying am going to receive an accredited online college degree.  This requires a little bit or research to find but I didn’t want to get scammed.

I was able to find an accredited school that offered online bachelors degree as well as health care degrees online.  From what I’ve read, they offer pretty much everything that a regular school does but they don’t require you to go classes at a particular time during the day.

I have sent a request for more information and am looking forward to hear back from them.

Great Work Incentives

I have worked as a front desk agent of a hotel for about three years and I really like what I do. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I get along really well with my boss and the owners always have really great incentive programs. They are the type of people who just make you want to work hard at your job.

Last month, we had a staff promotion that everyone got really excited about. The staff member that could book the most honeymoon packages that month would get a free weekend trip to Las Vegas. We sure all worked hard trying to promote the hotel.

I did not win, but I am still proud of the number I sold. We tripled the number of packages sold from the month before and, since we all tried hard, we all got gift certificates to a great restaurant in town. All of us, that is, except for Brandy, who will be going to Vegas very soon.

Change is Good

I knew that the day would come when I did not have any more essays to write and I knew that I would be a little bit sad about that. I would be happy that I had reached my goal, but I would also be scared about what would lie ahead.

I was never very good with change and so going to college was not a hard choice. I could live at home and go to school. It would not be a big change at all. I would stay up late at night writing term papers and my mom would bring me cookies and tell me not to work so hard. It would not be a change from high school at all.

I guess there was a slight change in the coursework over high school, but my life remained pretty steadfast and that was the way I wanted it.

All of a sudden though, when I finished college, it dawned on me that change was not always a bad thing. This thinking got me through some scary stuff and I am doing alright now.

Looking for an Internship

Instead of going to school next fall, I’ve decided that I’m going to get into an internship program and get a year of work experience in the field of computer science.  In some respects, the selection of internship positions for my type of degree revolve around programming.  Even though I do alright at programming, my real passion is human computer interaction and I’m hoping to get into an internship program that focuses on design.

Looking through companies that offer internship programs, I was able to find a New York web designer that was looking for someone to work on their team in creating outstanding websites.  I feel that that would be the perfect internship for me, and I made the point of going there in person to talk to him face to face.

I think my actions spoke louder than any other application that was submitted and I have been assured that I will be able to do my internship there.  It starts in a few short weeks and I just can’t wait to have a different pace compared to my current college life.

Choosing the Right Paintball Gun

I went out today thinking that I would come home with a new paintball gun.  I figured it’d be something that would be just easy enough to pick out, buy, and take home with me.  Obviously, I didn’t know what I was talking about.

Once I got to the store, I went to the section where they sold paintball guns.  I figure that there’d only be one or two different kinds and it would take only a couple minutes to make a quick decision of which one to buy.

Boy was I wrong.

After nearly half an hour of looking at package after package, I just really didn’t know which one would be the best one.  There didn’t seem to be any staff around, so I decided that I would go home and take a look online and make my decision from there.

Who knew that it would take so much work to choose the right paintball gun.

Promoting My Website with Article Publishing

I have just recently put together a website on simple home plumbing repairs thing you can do without calling your plumber.  I thought it was a nifty idea as there are very few books that cover that subject and even fewer websites.

It took me a few hours to get the web design all set up.  That was the easy part.

Writing the content took almost 10 hours of my time as I had to do research on the subject as well as create useful, step-by-step instructions.  Once that was done, I published the instructions onto the website and all I had left to do was to promote it.

I decided that article marketing would be the best web promotion technique that I could use to get traffic to my site.  I wrote three 500 word articles and proceeded to submit them to many article directories online.  After a couple days I noticed that my website was indexed in the search engines and traffic was coming to my site.  Though I haven’t got a sale yet, I know it is coming and I can’t wait!
