Easy Upsell to HD TV Customers

One of the things that I have learned over the years working in sales is that there is a good opportunity for an upsell once you have the customer sold on the product.  I was introduced to this at an early age at my first job in a coffee shop, with this simple line “would you like a donut with your coffee?”

Now, many years later, the same mantra holds true - I go for the upsell after getting the sale.  Currently, I am working in an electronics department selling HD TVs and working on commission.  We don’t make a whole lot on television sales, but if we can get the customer to purchase another product at the time of sale, we get a bonus.

So, lately I have been aggressively upselling the customers on TV screen protection as a smart investment.  This is definitely an easy sale for parents with young children, who don’t hesitate to buy a tv screen protector at all.

If you are working in electronics sales, take advantage of this tip - you can easily increase your commissions per customer by selling them this useful and essential accessory.

My Wife’s Peace of Mind

When I started working out of town, my wife told me that I needed to get a cell phone. She was worried about me being on the road all the time and I couldn’t say that I blamed her. We went out one Saturday to look at phones and see what we should get. I knew that I wanted a secure gsm, but beyond that, I did not know much about what kinds of phones were currently on the market.

I have heard horror stories about people who have had problems with cell phone interception and it was one of the first things I asked about when we were looking and deciding who to sign a contract with. I was assured that it wouldn’t be a problem.

They told me that if I used the encryption software properly than it would never be an issue. Once I was assured that it was safe, I signed the contract and I know my wife will sleep better knowing that I am just a phone call away.

Research Before Buying a GPS

I have always been the type of person that does his research before buying anything.  I guess my reasoning behind it is I don’t have a lot of extra money to burn, so I want to make sure that I am getting good value for my dollar, and that I am not getting ripped off.

So when I decided that I wanted to buy a GPS, I wanted to know everything there was to know about them and read every review that I could find.

The first thing that I found out was that there were tons of models - too many to look into in a reasonable time.  So I decided that I would keep my search to the best selling GPS systems on the market - they must be best sellers for a reason, right?

So right now, I am trying to gather all the reviews that I can find.  I’ll read them, and then make my decision on which one to buy.

Learning About my Phone

I thought I knew everything about my mobile phone until today when I tried to browse the Internet.  Let me just say that the result that I had just wasn’t what I was expecting.  You see, the site didn’t display properly on my phone at all, and I needed to find out why.

So, when I got home, I took a look online to see if I could find a website that told me how I could view websites on my mobile phone properly.  It turns out that there are wap sites that are specifically designed to work and display properly on a cell phone.

As it turned out, a mobile website is designed to display properly on a cell phone (I guess it should have been obvious) and once I figured it out, my experience online was much better.  In fact, I don’t even mind surfing on the Internet anymore, now that I know what I am doing.

Funny and Useful Gadgets

I remember reading a while back in one of my business magazines about a young woman with no real experience in some aspect - not sure now if it was design or manufacturing. But, the point was that she had managed to develop a product that was selling like hotcakes and was running into problems keeping up with sales in terms of production.

She made the coolest gadgets that in some ways were actually pretty funny. Clocky is in most ways a normal everyday type of alarm clock. You tell it when to buzz or beep you in the morning and it will do just that. However, when you reach out to hit the snooze button because you just want five more minutes, Clocky won’t be there.

This alarm clock, depending on what model you pick, will tumble across the floor or roll on wheels under the bed or behind other furniture to avoid being shut off and to make sure you are fully awake.

Funny, if it’s not you chasing the darn thing. Useful if you over use the snooze button.

Hands Free

I got the coolest software for my computer. It allows me to dictate through a headset rather than typing. I absolutely love it because it allows me to hold my baby and work on a term paper at the same time. It is so time efficient that I really don’t know what I did without it.

Every day now, when I come home from school, I hold my daughter while working on my book reports. The headset gives me two free hands and I know that I will always have time to go back and edit after my little baby goes to bed.

It looks kind of humorous because I put the laptop down on the floor in front of me and I have my research papers strewn all around it, so I can find the notes I need and dictate them to the machine. It may look weird, but it works and I find that I have far more time with my daughter than I ever have before.

Showcasing Upcoming Technology

There are quite a few blogs I follow regularly to keep up with the changes in technology.  Sure, I could read some magazines and keep up as well, but with the number of technologies that I am following, I feel that it would be really expensive for me to keep up with everything.

But, today I did come across some interesting OLED news.  They were discussing the 40” Samsung OLED that they saw at a technology trade show.  According to the reviews, the colors and sharpness were simply amazing.

They also had a chance to check out Sony’s XEL 1 OLED TV, and the display was crisp and bright.

In fact, all that I read was that OLED is a positive and worthwhile step into the future of televisions, computer displays, and portable devices.  Though there are still some manufacturing challenges, by all indications, we should be able to just go to a store and purchase a device with an OLED display later on this year.

Reading Yesterday’s Paper

I woke up this morning kind of late as I must have slept in.  That usually doesn’t happen to me, but obviously, I needed the sleep.  So, I had a chance when I got up today to read yesterday’s paper while eating breakfast.

Even though we subscribe to the paper, I usually don’t bother reading it - it is kind of boring.  But, I thought that I would give it a chance and see what I could find in its’ pages.

I was just about through the paper in just five minutes, when I came across registry cleaner reviews.  Now, this was something that I would be interested in.

You see, my computer has been acting up lately, and honestly I am too busy (and too cheap) to have someone over to fix the computer.

I read through the Regcure review and the Registry Mechanic review, and I think I will try the latter.  Now, they were both rated well, but the screen shot from Registry Mechanic just looked more appealing to me.

I am sure happy I read the paper today - I managed to learn something.

Dead Mouse

Don’t panic - I’m not going to talk about a real dead mouse.  Rather, the mouse for my laptop died and I found myself for the first time using my touch pad.  After about ten minutes, I decided that I didn’t really care about the touch pad - what I needed was a wireless laptop mouse.

I did a quick search for a wireless mouse at a number of computer retailer’s websites, but I found it really hard to compare prices.  Trying to flip windows and keep track of what was going on was just about impossible, I needed a better place to find the answers I needed.

Thankfully, after a quick search, I found a lens on Squidoo called laptop accessories clearance - that had all the deals I was looking for, all in one spot.  After a couple of clicks, I was able to order a wireless mouse (at a great price), pay for it, and get it shipped to me.

Man that was easy.
