Using What I Had Learned

For many years, I was involved in selling cheap auto insurance. It is a job that I certainly do not miss, but it is one in which I learned valuable information that I still use to this day.

When my dad was looking for classic car insurance, I knew what some of the realistic quotes should be, as at one point, it had been my job to know. There were a few quotes that he had been given that were completely out to lunch and I told him so.

I decided that I would do the talking for him and when I called to get a cheap auto insurance rate, I told them who I was and that I knew for a fact that they were trying to rip off an old man. That sure changed the rate that he was quoted and he ended up getting a better deal than I even thought he would.

New Car Means Looking for New Car Insurance

I have had a busy week and I am so thankful that it is Friday.  You see, just one week ago today, my car broke down and it just wasn’t going to be worth it to have it fixed.  So, I have been madly scrambling to find a replacement vehicle - new or used - and thankfully, I was able to find a perfect car at a price that I could afford.

But the one thing that I had almost forgot was the fact that I would have to get some new auto insurance.  It has been about ten years now that I have been with the same car insurance company, but with all the hype on the television about getting better rates made me think that maybe I should take a look to see if I am getting the best rate or not.

So, I collected a list of companies that came up when I searched for "auto insurance Toronto" online.  After gathering quotes from all of them, I realized that there was another company that gave me the same amount of coverage, for less money.

Needless to say that I have gone with them now, and though they are unproven as of yet, I don’t mind that I get to keep more money in my pocket.

Cars Damaged in Tornado!

We went through a tornado about six or seven years ago that was devastating to our town and did quite a bit of damage to our own property including our trucks.

We weren’t hurt and our house was still standing after the 150 mile per hour winds whipped through town, but we were shook up and had lost our garage.

One of our trucks was inside the garage and now had a two by four piece of lumber through the back window and our other truck was parked beside the house with a caved in side from debris.

Luckily our auto insurance company came out quickly and helped figure out what to do for us. They also got our checks cut quickly so that we could get back on the road in a few days. Other residents had much more trouble getting their car insurance companies to help out. Some took weeks, and others even took months.

We eventually moved out of town and ended up with a new insurance company after searching through many other auto insurance quotes online.

Temporarily Covered

I recently found myself in a transition between two jobs.  This was a really good thing, but it left me with no health coverage.  This concerned me as I am accident prone and didn’t want to be scared to see my doctor if there was a problem.  This prompted me to further check my options, to see what might be available to me.

What I found was, that I was eligible, to obtain temporary insurance until my health insurance from work was valid.  This made me feel a lot better, though I never had to use it, I’m sure I would have if I had not purchased it.  It made me feel safer knowing that I was covered should anything happen.

I’m enjoying my new job immensely and think that this is one of the greatest changes I have ever made in my life.  I love the people I work with, and I know we will have a lot of good times.  I now have health coverage through work and no longer have use for temporary insurance.  At least now, I know what to do if I am ever in this situation again.

Responsibilities of Growing Up

I never quite realized how much my parents paid for everything until I moved out of their house.  Sure, at the time I was mad with them about not helping me understand the auto insurance quote I had, so I made a rash decision and decided it was time to leave home.

What I had failed to realize at that point was how much money they spent on things that I had no idea about.  Utilities, phone, Internet, rent, and groceries sure cost a lot more if it is you paying for them.  I did have a little annuity that supplemented my work income, but I was barely scraping by - and I needed to figure out a way to cut down my bills fast.

I went online at the time to compare insurance quotes to see if I could maybe save some money on my car insurance - even a little savings would make a big difference.

Lucky for me, I found a company that saved me a few dollars and gave me a breather.  I never quite realized how lucky I was living at home - but I guess, I will never be going back there again.  That is the price you pay for growing up.
