To put this in simpler terms, the self-prepared resume is going out of style. This is because it is being replaced by the online CV format. It is this type of resume that recruiters are now forwarding to employers. Yes, there are still many free CV templates on the Internet, but it is only fair that we look at some tips that will offer guidance in the creation of online resumes.

At one time, individuals were told to look for online templates that they could insert their data into. The idea was to create a CV that would give out personal information the same as the sample It was found that the samples could not provide the same results. These templates and samples are becoming redundant to employers because that is all they receive. With this said, many are realizing that the creation of an eye-catching resume may be wasting their time.

What happens is the information is processed in a straightforward way. The recruiters simply look at the most vital details, and then they take these details, put them in a format, and place them in a database. It is from this database that the employer is able to search. From there, the employer bases their information off of the raw data you provided. All of the designs, layouts and formatting are for naught. So what would then be the most informed decision when it comes to moving forward?

The creation of the CV online should be preceded by the compilation of the data that an employer will consider, which includes skills, experience and training.

The dates of your schooling and job experience.

The names of the companies you have worked for.

What job titles you have had and the responsibilities you had.

Your accomplishments and achievements in all of your jobs.

What skills you have that are relevant and can be transferred to this job.

Any professional associations that you are a part of.

Any published books or documents.

Possible security clearances obtained.

Accurate and up-to-date contact information.

Spare your effort in trying to make the CV look fancy; your prospective employer may never get wind of this.

Sometimes I think people need a cheat sheet to remind them why they are doing what they are doing. I designed this article to be printed and put on your mirror so every morning when you wake up you can remember what you are doing today’s work for.

#5 Keeping up with the Jones’ has become horrible. You have now decided that if you can’t beat them you need to be them. It is time for people to keep up with you.

It is simple, we all want to be better people. Each day read these goals and do anything that will get you closer to them first. Then to the less important things. If you can accomplish these goals then you will have a fulfilled life.

Filipino Maids - Why Filipino Maids Prefer Western employers

Many Filipino maids looking for job opportunities in Hong Kong would usually inquire from our agency if we have Western employers available. Why do Filipino domestic helpers in Hong Kong prefer Western employers?

Our employment agency caters to an international market. We receive inquiries from expatriates who need domestic helpers from time to time which results from our internet marketing endeavor.

But out of curiosity, I usually interview those Filipino maids why they want to work for Western employers more than the Chinese employers in Hong Kong. They said that the former tend to be more understanding and generous in terms of compensation compared with the latter.

A study has been conducted by Chinese University of Hong Kong on how maids in Hong Kong are treated by their employers. Comparisons between Western and Chinese employers on their treatment of Filipina helpers are done in consideration of four major areas namely atmosphere of work environment, consideration, socio-psychological distance and personal space.

The data were based on in-depth and structured interviews of Filipino helpers who have served both types of employers. A few Western and Chinese employers were also interviewed.

Based on the study, it has been found that Western employers tend to provide their filipino domestic helpers with easier and comfortable work environment. Western employers were found to be more considerate and are more likely to treat their domestic helpers equally and allow them more personal space, thus giving the helpers more work satisfaction.

Lastly, in terms of variations in treatment of maids, Western employers are more homogeneous and they tend to concentrate on the positive side. On the other hand, Chinese employers are more diversified. There is no single pattern on how they treat their Filipino maids. This is a basis why Filipino domestic helpers in Hong Kong prefer Western employers.
