Easy Upsell to HD TV Customers

One of the things that I have learned over the years working in sales is that there is a good opportunity for an upsell once you have the customer sold on the product.  I was introduced to this at an early age at my first job in a coffee shop, with this simple line “would you like a donut with your coffee?”

Now, many years later, the same mantra holds true - I go for the upsell after getting the sale.  Currently, I am working in an electronics department selling HD TVs and working on commission.  We don’t make a whole lot on television sales, but if we can get the customer to purchase another product at the time of sale, we get a bonus.

So, lately I have been aggressively upselling the customers on TV screen protection as a smart investment.  This is definitely an easy sale for parents with young children, who don’t hesitate to buy a tv screen protector at all.

If you are working in electronics sales, take advantage of this tip - you can easily increase your commissions per customer by selling them this useful and essential accessory.

Simple Tasks I did Today

I recently took a job doing small, on-demand tasks for many organizations.  In some respects, we are just an outsourcing farm - we take orders from around the world.

Many of these tasks are short and don’t require a lot of time to complete and it makes the job into something new everyday.  This variety makes the job fun to go to and I rarely if ever get bored.

For example. today I was to find different roofing companies in the area and categorize them.  This meant that I did a number of searched to find all of the answers and it took some time to get things together.

I categorized the results that I found into three categories: roofing Pawtucket RI, commercial roofing Pawtucket RI, and flat roofing Pawtucket ri.  It took most of the day, and I can’t wait to see what is my task for tomorrow.

Working As a Debt Counselor

When I entered college, I wanted to get a career that I would be able to help others out and help them have a better standard of life.  I could’ve chose many different careers such as being a doctor, a scientist, or a researcher.  As it turned out, none of these career paths really interested me and in the end I decided to become a debt counselor.

I figured that this would be a good choice of careers since everyone has and uses money and debt will be an issue for many people.  I also like the fact that the job put me in a position where I could give people options instead of them just having to go bankrupt.

Right now I’m mainly deal with helping people through providing poor credit debt consolidation loans and teaching them how to implement debt diet plans.  This is just one aspect of my job and in this instance I am more of a solutions provider to them.

I also work in a teaching capacity as a teacher class on how to reduce credit card debt.  This is one of the most rewarding parts of my job is when you see the sparkle in the eye of your students when they understand what you are talking about and realizing at that point that you are changing lives.

All I can say is that I love my job and the fact that I’m able to help many people with my talents and knowledge.

Preparing for Work on Monday

Though I usually take the weekend off, sometimes I take the time on Sunday to get ready for the work week on Monday.  It may sound a little strange, but I am looking forward to be considered for a promotion, so I figure that I have to bring my "A" game to the table everyday.

So, lately on Sundays, I have taken the time to get ready for Monday and the week ahead.  For example, right now we are working on a web design project for a client, and we are meeting with the professional logo design service that we have contracted to do that portion of the site.

I am just finishing up the preliminary concepts for the logo design, so that they have some framework from which to work with to come up with the final design.  I still have a little bit of touching up to do before I will be ready tomorrow.

Hopefully this will be the week that they promote me - I am getting tired of giving up my weekends for my job instead of spending time with the family - I really need the promotion.

Getting Rid of Job Stresses

I work at a pretty stressful job. I work with the social services and am in charge of finding temporary homes for many kids that need to be taken care of. Though the kids are removed from their homes for a variety of different reasons, it breaks my heart to see what some of the hardships they have endured in their short little lives.

I always promised that I would never let the job get the best of me and I try to stay emotionally unattached as much as I can. You can never remove yourself completely from the situation, though, and anyone who has feelings will be affected to a certain degree.

The one thing I do is let it all go when I come home to my family. When I have had a particularly strenuous day, I often will go and get a relaxing aromatherapy massage. This allows me to relax with my family and be thankful that I have a wonderful husband and some great kids.

One Lucky Guy

I was injured recently in a workplace accident. I fell from a two story scaffolding and broke my leg in three places. I am lucky that is all that I did and I consider myself very fortunate. I was booked in for foot and ankle surgery in Orange County, where they had to set my bones and put some pins in my leg. It was amazing how quickly they did it and what a good job they did on my leg and foot.

It will still be several weeks before I can have the cast removed, but I can already tell that I am healing well. I am actually starting to be able to put some weight on my leg and I can walk on it for short times. I am fully expecting to make a full recovery and I will be extremely glad when I can go back to work. I think that the worst part of the whole thing is that I am bored as I am an extremely active person and I do not like sitting in one place for too long.

The Chance of a Lifetime

It was a rare opportunity, one that I knew would probably never come up again as long as I lived, and one that I knew I could not say no to.  I was offered the chance to travel with a professor of anthropology, to Africa for a year to study one of the tribes there that very little was known about.

It was not a tough decision as it was something that I had wanted to do ever since the day that I decided I was going to become an anthropologist.  It wasn’t something that I expected to do at my young age and I felt very blessed to have the opportunity to do so.  It was a one in a million chance of a lifetime and I knew that my life would be very fulfilled because of it.

Shortly after the offer, all of my belongings were in public storage Philadelphia and I was ready to embark on the most incredible journey that I knew I would ever take in my lifetime.  I was not disappointed and I know that it is an experience I will never forget as they both made me grow as an anthropologist and as a person.

Sales Recruitment Firms Shortcut the Job Search Process

A friend of mine is considering an overseas move. But he is completely clueless how to go about this in a methodical way. Don’t get me wrong. He’s a genius at selling anything. He could sell "coals to Newcastle." In fact he suggested that half seriously when he first told me about this idea.

He came to me because he’s still learning his way around the Internet. (I know. He’s a throw-back.) So to shortcut this whole process for him, I did a search for sales recruitment firms in the UK. That clued me in to the term sales recruitment consultant.

Now we’re talking! He needs a consultant - someone he can talk to, who can walk him through this process and help him negotiate this unfamiliar territory, both figuratively and literally.

He’s now got three interviews set up for next week. Glad I got my passport updated, because to thank me for my help, he’s invited me along. Big Ben, here I come! Pip-pip, cheerio and all that rot.

A Search Engine Dream Come True

I feel sorry for my daughter’s best friend. She emailed me today that she’s landed her dream job as an IT consultant at a major search engine. The problem is, she’s not allowed to tell which search engine. I can just hear the conversation she had with her mother.

“Ma, I got the job!!”

“Now can you tell us who it is?”

“Uh, no. They made me sign this paper that says no one is allowed to know.”

“Not even your own mother?”

“They said especially not mothers — family members. They didn’t actually single out mothers.”

“I would hope not! What kind of place is this that they make you keep secrets from your relatives?”

“A very big and powerful company, Ma. The kind that influences millions of people daily.”

“But what if you got married?”

“Ma! Enough harping about–”

“I’m not harping. When I’m harping, believe me, you’ll know. I’m thinking if a person were married, that piece of paper would put them in a difficult position.”

“I signed the not-in-a-relationship form. People with significant others signed a different disclosure.”

“Then you should get married so you can know what’s in that other paper.”

“You’re the one who wants to know!”

“Aren’t you the least little bit curious?”

“Well, maybe a little, but the point is–”

“The point is, you should be married! Your cousin Emma is married.”

“Emma’s married to a…look, there is one other thing. I’m not allowed to talk to you at work.”

“I never heard of such a thing, not talking to family members at work!”

“Not family members. Mothers.”

“They can do that?”

“This is a search engine giant. They can do whatever they want, Ma.”

“If I promise not to mention your cousin Emma can you talk to me?”

“Only if you also don’t mention her for the next six months.”

“Not even at home?”

“Especially then!”

“Well…I guess I can adjust to not talking to you at work. Now, I think I hear your boss calling you. Besides, I have to call your Aunt Martha and tell her my daughter got a job with a secret, fancy-schmancy company while her daughter is only married to a jerk.”

Great Work Incentives

I have worked as a front desk agent of a hotel for about three years and I really like what I do. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I get along really well with my boss and the owners always have really great incentive programs. They are the type of people who just make you want to work hard at your job.

Last month, we had a staff promotion that everyone got really excited about. The staff member that could book the most honeymoon packages that month would get a free weekend trip to Las Vegas. We sure all worked hard trying to promote the hotel.

I did not win, but I am still proud of the number I sold. We tripled the number of packages sold from the month before and, since we all tried hard, we all got gift certificates to a great restaurant in town. All of us, that is, except for Brandy, who will be going to Vegas very soon.
