Is Anyone Out There the Next Dale Earnhardt?
Who will be the next Intimidator? You know what I mean. Is there anyone out there who can fill the shoes of the great Dale Earnhardt Sr.? NASCAR racing fans wait for one to appear. The Intimidator was a unlike anyone else. His tragic death 8 years ago seems to have snuffed out all of the possibility. Only a few drivers have been compared with Dale Earnhardt Sr., the seven-time Winston Cup champion.
Of course NASCAR racing fans compare Dale Jr. with his father. It is easy. They have the same name. They sound the same. But Dale Jr. is not as aggressive nor as reckless on the track as his father was. Dale Jr. does not look for trouble on the track unless his opponents push him relentlessly.
Kevin Harvick. After Earnhardt Sr. died, Kevin Harvick became the driver with Richard Childress Racing. The car had to be changed from “3″ to “29″ and they changed the colors of the famous number 3 car to mostly white.
Kevin Harvick was both aggressive and controversial. Harvick is a businessman. Harvick He has his own identity. Yes there are strong similarities. Early in his career He showed a tendency to irritate his competition. He owns 2 race teams, a Camping World Series Truck team and a Nationwide Series team.
Even though Kyle Busch reminds me a little of Earnhardt Sr., there is no way he could be the Intimidator. Busch was awesome in 2008. His aggressive driving and frequent wins and impetuous personality stirred some similarities to the late Dale Earnhardt.
Tony Stewart’s temper and distaste for the media truly stretches the limits. Sometimes even more than Earnhardt Sr. ever did. Tony Stewart is aggressive. He never hesitates to take his complaints public. In addition, Stewart is an entrepreneur. He runs his own race track in Eldora. Stewart also owns several race teams in Sprint and the World of Outlaws. When Tony Stewart became owner-driver of Stewart Haas Racing, he captured a lot of attention and a raised tons of skepticism and even a little hope.
At the end of the day look over your list, none of these drivers will ever be the grand Intimidator, Dale Earnhardt. Just one driver is starting to faintly remind me of Earnhardt and that is Tony Stewart. Stewart stepped out of the mold as successful owner in the Sprint Cup Series with a team that was going nowhere when he took it on. Tony Stewart has two championships already and is doing well this season. Watch Tony Stewart .
