Art Auction for Charity

Every year, I am involved in the local art auction for charities in our town.  From what originally started as a small affair, it has become one of the biggest attractions of the year in our home town.  People come from miles around (we are in a farming community) and bid on the items.

Usually, we auction off artwork from local artists and we also ask the community to donate any pieces that they might have.  As it turns out, there were a few interesting donations from artists that are a little more famous than those people in town.

The most interesting piece of art was a Banksy signed art which made its’ way all the way from the United Kingdom.  Not only is is something that I have never seen before, but it is sure to fetch a good price at the auction.

Well, I should get back to setting up for tonight - I am sure that it is going to go very well.

Learning to Play Piano

Last summer, I had a job at a music store. It was not a music store that sold all of the latest CD’s, but rather a music store that sold musical instruments and sheet music. I really enjoyed the job and decided that I was also going to learn to play a musical instrument that summer.

I chose a really good course by Will Barrow and learn master piano. Well, I did not learn to master the piano over the summer, but I learned a lot more than I ever thought possible in three short months. This course is amazing and I would say that I will master the piano at some point in my life. Especially if I keep up with this particular course.

I am hoping to get on with the store again this summer and am hoping to have time to take my learning seriously once again. I am also hoping to be able to play piano in my cousin’s wedding in August. I guess I will have to wait and see.

My Own Art Gallery At Home

For most of my life, I have just loved art - especially paintings.  I love how these images capture a scene at a moment in time.  Quite often I find myself lost in the paintings, with my mind endlessly daydreaming.

Since I never really had any sort of painting skills (or artistic talent), I ended up becoming a photographer instead.  Just because I couldn’t paint or draw, didn’t mean that I couldn’t find a way to express the artist in me.  It took a little practice, but I have become somewhat of a professional photographer.

In order to have the artwork created by myself, I have found a place that will put photos onto canvas.  The resulting canvases look like professional paintings that you can put on your wall.  I have about ten of them now on the walls in my home, and each time that look at them, I am reminded of being at the art gallery - one of my most favorite places to visit.
