I have watched a number of television programs over the past few months that have discussed the need for Internet Privacy Software on every computer in the nation.  The reasoning behind this is that there is so much private information transmitted over the Internet, that we are all at risk of identity theft - but we do have the power to protect ourselves.

You see, the programs that I watched suggested that we use Anonymizer software to hide our computer from the prying eyes of cyber criminals by masking our IP address from them.  This way, they would not be able to find our computer (or our information).

One of the programs also suggested that we should be using Privacy Controls software to erase the tracks of what sites we visited, and what passwords that we used.  A good example for this need would be parents that have the babysitter over to watch their children - your personal information could be accessible to your sitter, which I would guess that you wouldn’t want to have happen.

So be aware that there are steps that you could take to protect your computer and your data - and save yourself a potentially big headache.
