Relationship Advice – Masking True Love

by Johnnie S Laney

We all are thrilled when we find a relationship and finally feel the stirrings of true love. It feels wonderful and we are very happy. But only for a while. Then some distance seems to grow between us and the feeling of true love starts to waver.

What can we do to keep the true love we once found? How do we keep our marriage or relationship strong? How do we keep from having things slowly slide down hill? This is a useful and worthwhile question I think most all of us have faced.

The answers to this question are multiple. There are many issues you need to pay attention to in order to keep your relationship strong and keep the feeling of true love.

This article will focus on one thing. And that is that keeping true love requires you to be real and authentic with your mate. One way to do this is to take off your mask.

We all wear masks. For example, some of us are good girls. We try not to argue, try not to make waves, try to be pleasing and helpful. Others of us wear independent masks. We try to appear like we’ve got it together, we’ve got it handled, we don’t need help. There is nothing wrong with these masks.

Yet, when it comes to true love, wearing our masks in the relationship can get in the way. Being a good girl is nice, but sometimes you cant just go along with your mate. Sometimes you need to have conflict and you need to stand up for what you want, not just pleasing your partner. And sometimes you have to make sure you are getting pleased, not just doing all the pleasing.

Just so, if you wear the strong independent I don’t need anybody mask, you will need to take that off at times. You will need to be vulnerable and admit that you dont always have it together. You have to let your mate in.

The point is that whatever masks you wear, you will need to trust your mate and learn to take it off and be genuine with them. True love can’t thrive if you are putting on a fake front and not being who you really are.
